Berlin 1936 german Olympians in the Army !

    Hi Guys !

I don't know if this subject was discussed before... I don't think so. I recently came across some Photomaterial concerning Hermann BLAZEJEZAK (nicknamed "Blaze", 3.6.1912 Hildesheim, + 13.1.2008). He was semi finalist from the 400meter run in Berlin. He became later (1938 in Paris) european champion in 4x400 meters relay run.
He seems his last rank in the Army was Major (RDA 1.12.43, Nr.63a), and that he commanded a bataillon from the Pz.Gren.Rgt.73, 19.Pz.Div.

I would like to find more details about his military career, and of course discover more military stuff from german olympians during the Berlin Olympic Games in 1936.

more : a heavily retouched and colourized portrait as a Major, it seems the iron croxx first class was his highest military award.... and an original invitation card from Fieldmarshall v.Blomberg, the only original document from "Blaze" I own...

        Oops!
Sorry you already gave date of Major promotion !
I had meant too say that he is not mentioned in the
Das Deutsche Heer book by Podzun.
this is a bit of a surprise as he became a Major in 1943

He also won the Gold in the 4 x 400m Relay in the 1938 European Championships.

Here are his details taken from his Wehrpass. Huesken used to have a lot of stuff for him, at least 25 different items including his award citations (all sold as single items), loads of sport citations (again, all sold as single items), passport, sporting awards, army service photo album for the northern front and so on. I managed to get his Wehrpass, his de-nazified medals and a couple of photos including that colourised one shown above. I also have a copy of his personnel file.
Now there are just two items left at Huesken: https://www.huesken.com/cgi-bin/such...EJEZAK&SUBMIT=

The last photo showing him and his team mates was taken from the web.

Concerning my thoughts and opinion about Mr.Hüsken, I will be short. Selling such a group each item separately is BS. I met this Seller once in my Life, a real arrogant, full-of-himself dude. Really surprising for me to see he is still in the business with all the lot of baggages he is carrying with...

The photo album had a couple of photos of Ferdinand Schörner in it and even these were removed and sold as individual items.

Here is Page 4. There is no mention of his sporting life in the remainder of the Wehrpass.

No mention at all in "Sport. Befähigungsnachseise", really amazing...

Hüsken will probably be the first in the world trying to sell a wehrpass page after page. Wait and see !

Some of the pages in his file mention his sporting assignments for the Olympics although the scans are not great in quality.
