Dan, great job ! thanks for showing it.
Indeed the person nr 2 from my photo is the same man

In Metzgers estate I see an interesting document (1. GD Divisionsnadel certificate) which states that he left the division on 27.01.1942.
So this is only a few days after taking my picture....

Btw my officer also got such document when he was leaving 1 GD and was moving to Stab of XXXXIX Geb.A.K. as Ia officer.
But the needle itself did not survived. Does anybody knows how it should look like ??? Many photos on interent but mostly none of them showes a correct needle IMO.
However I believe I have correct box for the needle (but maybe it is a post war one ?).

I would also like to show you another 1 GD interesting and talented artist I came across in the album which was not mentioned here before.

                    Obergefreiter Morawetz.

Look how nice his drawings are

Morawetz used to sign his works by MOR.
                      Very talented, you must admit.

WOW check out that peak and trap insignia on that bergmutze
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Morawetz`s Nikolaus looks very cool. And he is not bringing the presents in his hand

Anyone would try to translate the Nikolaus text ?????

Thank you for great information and showing the document. This documents even more hard to find than edelweissring documents. Regarding the pin itself: Here the pictures of the pin which were in collection of my good friend. But regarding the pin and rings there are such issues: Both pins and edelweissrings were also produced postwar in 1950-60. They were privatly ordered by Gebirgsjaeger division 1 veterans organisation. The had same design as war time pieces. And regarding the pin I don't know how to differ war-time and postwar production. But anyway war time or postwar such pieces are part of unit's history. About the box - it is most likely postwar in my opinion, but I am not 100% sure.
