Unteroffizier Stodt of Flak-Rgt.38 survived the hell of Obliwskaja but never returned home after the war. His last battle was in fortress Breslau. He is listed MIA since February 01, 1945.

Wonderful piece you have there, clearly show the savage nature of the combats in Stalingrad in particular and Ostfront in general.

It is alone or part of a bigger group?

      Thanks for showing it.

Looking for DKiG Heer winner Soldbuch who also won the TDB and/or CCC, specially in Silver.

        Thank you Angel!

Sadly, the Nahkampftage-Liste from "Kampfverband Obergethmann" is all that I have of this Flak Unteroffizier.

Very interesting piece of history! It must have been true hell if even the Flakunits were able to get this many CCC days,

                Thanks for sharing,

                Mats

Almost every day in close combat for a month sounds brutal. Thanks for presentation.

... exactly, and don't forget, the extreme conditions and cold temperatures they fought in.

                    Thanks everyone for looking!

                      Hello naxos !

Small, but fascinating document and telling so much of history !
Congratulations for another great find .
Great research once more, to find those excellent maps and to find out, that he is listed as MIA at Breslau ...

With the CC day locations in late 1942, the unit and the date of the list in May 1944 and his MIA at Breslau, I would think,
that it is a fair assumption, that from late 1942, he was always in the same unit : I./Flak-Rgt. 38

Although Flak units are often a nightmare to track, this Flak-Abt. was subordinated to Stab Flak-Rgt. 99 from the start
of Barbarossa (not listed in the scan) until the end of the war. And this Stab was reported to have been at Breslau in late January, 1945.
I think it is very unlikely, that this is just a chance coincidence !

Below is a summary of the history of this Stab and its subordinated units and a list of its Kommandeure (from Hummel, Die dt. Flakartillerie).
=> It should be mentioned, that this Abteilung, I./38, also received the honorific title : "Flak-Sturm-Abteilung".

Please continue, to dig out (and present) this highly interesting documents !

                      Best regards,

Archi, again you helped solving a mystery!

                          I found him!

At the time of his demise in Breslau (Feb. 1945), Johannes Stodt served with I./47 of Flak-Rgt.99 .

Besides getting a look at him we find out that in civilian life he was a painter from Essen.
Note, he is listed as Obergefreiter in the MIA list. However, Stodt already held the rank of Unteroffizier in May 1944.
