Portrait with Unknown Traditions Badges

Picked up this portrait...with what appears to be a bird on the cap. I can't find any birds in use as traditions crests outside of eagles



At first I thought it might be one of these WHW badges, but in hand it appears to be metal, not plastic. Thoughts?

Interesting photo--there is no insignia on his tunic visible.
He appears to be Coastal Artillery?

No idea...the lack of insignia jumped out at me, as well

Could it be this U-Boat badge?

The badge in the emblem looks like detailed, 3-dimensional machine made...not the snipped sheet metal typically associated with U-Boats. Also appears to be perched on a rock or log as opposed to a U-Boat
