    Himmler signiture

Hi guys, your opinions on this one? It’s inside a book leaf. Green pencil as was favoured by HH.

Don't pay too much for it. There are a lot of these pencil signed books from Himmler's library around.

Thanks Bryan. Yes I’m aware they are obtainable, still neat items though, even though he would have had hundreds of books in his library.

It's true though, that if the book itself had special significance, such as being SS related or having pictures of Himmler in it, it would command a higher price.

So what is the rest of the inscription. I thought it as the word "April", but that doesn't fit with the date following. Is it a location? My example, a copy of Daluege's book on crime with his personal dedication to the new Chief of Police, is marked with his initials, the notation that he read the book , when and where.

And was it really a green pencil? I thought it was blue but fading over the many decades.

                  Joe,
When did you last visit your optician? It's green--and so is yours!
                  Regards,
                  Max.

Max, actually I see my Opthamologist twice a year and not a word of color blindness. Perhaps you should be checked for the condition. Mine still looks like faded blue. Do you have an example of green that cannot be mistaken?

Mine is def green. Joe apparently he favoured green pencil and hi s books feature this colour, when signed.
The first word does look like April, but the month Roman numeral looks like V111 - 8, so would be August.
Perhaps the book was received in April and read in August, or read between April and that date in August. I would have thought that was too much detail for him to remember and record, but who knows.
Unless the first word is actually a place but I can’t find anything similar in Germany. Any more ideas?

                        Joe,
ALL examples like this in books that I have seen have been green crayon pencil. Full dedications were usually written in fountain pen ink.
Regards from the blue rolling hills of England!
                        Max.

What is too much? How common are they? You sound like these Himmler signed books are worthless and can be found in the bargain bin at the local used book store.

In my mind anything signed by Himmler has to be 600 plus

Thanks Jon, I agree. I see SS tabs, cuff bands etc., etc. at all the shows and dealer sites regularly but rarely any Himmler signed books.
