Strange unit designation, that- "2./Panzerreg. 244."

"Panzer-Regiment 244" or "Pz.Rgt. 244" would be more appropriate. Has anyone here ever heard of a Panzer-Regiment 244, though (I lack Tessin, hence don't know).

The Generalmajor who signed "i.V." for Gen. Weyer-- of what Div. was he Kdr.? (I'm assuming this "Panzerreg. 244" was a component of the Division, which must have been within the area covered by Gen. Weyer's Wehrkreis at the time)

      Urkunde of Hptm d.r

I would be wary of this as G der Art Weyer left the Military District
in Feb 1941, and the Cmdr in May 45 was G der Inf W Wetzel.

I don't like it one bit to be honest. What's the stamp?

It`s a fake, i hope i can explain it in English the fonts used are pcfonts, there are some differences to the original (metal)fonts used in periodtime. so you can say that this document was made after the 80s. greetings k.

There are literally hundreds of fakes flooding the market at the moment, some with main line dealers and they are very good, even down to the correct Feldpost number and/or a known signature of the commander!

With the sources available it is very easy to find out who a commader of a unit was...in some cases the signature does not match that of a known General, however a Btl. Kdr. is more difficult to identify....

Of course there are still many run of the mill poor attempts that can be dismissed immediately

The top end fakes apparently are being done in Austria!!! And I did even hear on order for someone in the north of Germany, however no names were mentioned.....
