I was going to buy this, I just noticed the skull seems super large. Can anyone tell if it's a real skull?

I think it's just an illusion due to its proximity to the camera as the soldier is a foot or two behind it. And yes, it looks real.

Me too, very interesting photo, I'm excited to add it to my collection. I'm just curious how the soldier got the skull, I'm guessing by the condition that it was not a recent kill, but who knows what a skull might look like if someone took a hit from a tank.

One stupid question: Are these guys German or Russian?? The shoulderboards and the cap of the soldier in the background make me assume they are Germans, but I am not familiar with Russian uniforms and insignia at all, maybe they had something similar...

By the, I'd actually say it is a recent kill, most likely one of the crewmembers of the tank. There are no teeth missing and they look actually very bright... a "fresh" but badly burned skull in my opinion.
Pretty disgusting, to take it as a souvenir or even pose with it, but that's what war makes out of normal people. When I saw the picture it very much reminded me of a scandal about 12-15 years ago caused by a picture showing German soldiers posing with the skull of a Taliban (?) in Afghanistan.

imo not recent kill at all. It does not look burnt at all. More like from a grave.
