I would like to know more about this photo. The uniform collar tab shows 3 "pips". He has a little mustache like his boss. To the far right of the photo there appears to be a large safe. In front of him is what looks like a calendar with 6 7 8 on it. May not be a calendar but it has tear off pages. Any input on this old photo is welcomed. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi,
My (uneducated) guess is that this is a photo of an Austrian army officer from WW1. I have travelled through Bielefeld several times (the town where Horst Wessel was born) on my way to visit my wifes family in Minden, Westfalen.
Maybe this soldier was passing through on his way to the Western Front, or perhaps had an administrative role in support of the German Army during WW1?
Best wishes,
John.
