Letter for the plate (pictured above)

goes with the 1913-38 engraved personal gift plate--

rough/brief is "Tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of when you received your Pilot's Badge, thereby laying the foundation for an outstanding flying career. many years have passed since then; you distinguished youself as an airman at the time of the Great War and then in the Time of Disgrace you were forced to take off your soldier's jacket, because you could not serve except as a flyer. When rearmament came, you were among the first to pladge your whole heart to return to the Air Force of the Third Reich. Your ascent passed quickly from the Group of the Franconoian Squadron to Commodore of the Alps Squadron, which formed and trained solely through your will are among the most splendid troops which can be imagined.

      2nd paragraph--

"You should be proud today of your accomplishments as Commodore and know also that I am proud of you and to me as Air Division Commander am happy to prize in you not only an excellent Commodore but also a true comrade and friend. In this sense I ask you to accept the enclosed plate (Teller) as a sign of friendship and gratitude from me."

Now the final paragraph refers to occupation of the Sudetenland, and when written did not know whether this would spark a war---
"It remains only to mention that tomorrow is the day of the advance (Vormarsch)-- I do not know (written on 30.9.) whether your Squadron must fly ((i.e. in combat--RJL))-- but if it does-- I know that it will fully do its duty under its Commodore. That I know for certain.

Therefore Heil Hitler! always your loyal Wolff."

The pencilled reverse note lists "1 Abschrift mit 1 scribbly line

the "b.w." at bottom front is "bitte wenden"-- "please turn over"
