I need the help of the forum please.

Who are these guys, WWI, Freikorps, WWII, Luftschutz or what? Wearing gas masks, rubberised or leather overalls, M17 helmets, and the chap with the Adolf moustache is he the comedian wearing his helmet the wrong way or what?

My gut feeling is interwar Reichswehr.

I was trying to enlarge the belt buckle on “tash” but couldn’t see much.

It’s obviously a training course of some type or they’ve just been issued kit and trying it on.

The gas masks look post WW1 and I know WW1 helmets were worn by second line or homeland services but would be surprised if a whole group would be issued the same.

Are they anti gas suits or fire protection?

Some look too old for Reichswehr service, but I could imagine a volunteer fire department looking like this in the 1920's. The belt buckle does not look to be RW but could easily be Feuerwehr.
