    Reproduction SS Postcards on eStand...

    Hi everyone,

Just a heads-up to anyone looking at the 2 SS postcards on eStand:

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=951925
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=951924

They are postwar reproductions of the type discussed in this thread:

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=944503

No offense to the seller, as he probably doesn't know....even though I did send him a PM yesterday concerning this matter.

    Best regards,
    John

      Hi,

      no, both postcards are ORIGINALS.

The two collections (30 postcards each, "373" and "374" - were printed in TWO batchs with different fonts, check below.

So a collector needs to collect the 30 postcards "373" and 30 postcards "374"... twice. Or twice more if he wants to have "circulated" and "unused" ones.

The V2 (second) print seemed to be rarer than the V1.

The two postcards presented there are not like the fake reprint that is having a white cardboard and not very good text print in the topic i posted on.
They are perfectly "light pink" colored as the original cardboard should.

MG-Freak please contact the mods to keep your two topics.

      See You

Thank you Vince, and many apologies to the seller of these SS postcards.
I had forgotten that there is a different variation with a more modern font. I was mistaken!

Please contact the seller to purchase these cards, as €30 each is a VERY fair price for original cards from this SS series....of either type

The font used in the second series is surely more modern than the serif type in the first series, but it stems from Bauhaus era, so it's actually better to say contemporary than modern (not that you're saying wrong, but some readers might get wrong impression from "modern").

When we say (truly) modern, it means something like Helvetica, which is a postwar design.

              Hi,

no problem, actually i discovered that fact very recently i must admit.

But i think it was already discussed in the book published by Schiffer in 2007 :

              https://www.amazon.com/Postcards-Waf...dp/0976516500/

The fact is that i always prefer to start from scratch the study of a subject, so i'm making myself an archive about those postcards, checking actual original and circulated ones.

I will probably buy the book after finishing to check my own study, which is also including foreign issues (i'm not sure that it is presented in the book ?).

MG-Freak was contacted by me too, this is not a problem, i made mistake, we all made mistakes in the past.

Now about the new batch of postcards, my hypothesis is that it may be due to the "normalization" of the fonts used by the SS/Third Reich officials ?

              See You

              Vince

PS : for now, since i discovered that only recently, i identified 13 postcards from the V2 print - 6 from the "373" serie and 7 from the "374" serie (and of course 60 of the V1 print). Still 47 to confirm !
