Help needed on a signature from 1923 ! Possible ?!

    Hello !

I hope for some help on deciphering a signature on a "Verpflichtungsschein" from 1923.

This should be a signature of an officer of Reichswehr Art. Rgt. 1 (and I have a few candidates),
but I am totally confused at the moment, as it seems none of the candidates does match !
Any help or suggestion, which officer could have signed here, would be greatly appreciated !

    Best regards,

    Archi

Could you list the possible names? Since he was the Abteilungs-Kdr. it seems it would be fairly obvious.

      Hello pauke !

      The names are :
      I. Abt. (Insterburg) : Major Klie
II. Abt. u. Ausb.Bttr. (Königsberg) : Maj. Schellbach
III. Abt. (Allenstein) : Oberstlt. von Selle

[According to Keilig, von Selle (that should be Ferdinand v. Selle, later Gm. and Gen. z.V.)
      was Major until 1925 (?!)].
Maj. Klie can be excluded, as I have his signature on another document.
Signature to me looks different to both of the other two names.

I'll post 2 excerpts of the Rangliste 1923 (date: 1. April). Maybe I read/understand something wrong,
but I was unable to solve this puzzle alone.
In addition, I cannot believe that the Rangliste has errors in it (wrong position, wrong ranks), but who knows ...

Thanks for your interest and best regards,

      Archi

P.S.: The Rangliste has an aplphabetic index, so if someone could just make a guess on the name,
I can search for this officer, and see if there is an explanation.
But I have really no idea, how his name starts ...

        Hello !

Still hoping for some help here.

I do not ask for an identification of the signature,
but I know that many members here have seen a lot of signatures.
(I am willing to search for the name on my own).

What would be of great help for me, as a starting point :
Any guess on some of the letters contained in it.

        To make a start :
        - Towards the end, it looks to me like a "k" (or "h" ?!).
        - After that two "ll" or "ee" or something different ?
        - before the "k" an "i" or something different ?

Any help would still be appreciated !

Thanks in advance and best regards,

        Archi

I cannot add anything to your name search, but I do find it odd the lines above the signature ......, den........ are not filled in. To me that makes the location and date of the signature unknown.

            Hello pauke !

Many thanks for your additional input.
You made a very good point. So, a partial explanation for the difficulties in identifying this officer
could be caused due this beeing a kind of "Abschrift", issued at some (unknown) later date ?!
This perhaps could also explain the several different dates (some of them x-out) of the end of his service
            on this document.
Perhaps someone knows, when and where (and for what purpose) these Verpflichtungsscheine were issued ?
Any further comments are welcome of course.

            Best regards,

            Archi
