          Some mystery with his last flights.

          Neuenburg am Rhein was captured by French troops in late november 1944, Neuenburg near Oder on east was captured by soviets by early february 1945.

          Why flying with transport plane into captured by enemy territory ? Secret mission with parachute ?

          Or different "Neuenburg" if read correctly

            I think Neuenbug is Nowe (in German: Neuenburg in Westpreußen) town in Poland on Vistula River, in May 1945 German forces still combat here.

            Wrong or right?

              Still mystery and not enough clear. It is true that german forces combat till the end of war at Vistula river estuary.

              Problem is german maps show Neuenburg (at Vistula) was from early march 1945 in soviet hands.

              Our flyer (from his Flugbuch) made a sortie on 20 april 1945. I can agree with possibility that he made a mission to surrounded troops, but at this time -20 april 1945 in Neunburg area (according to map) were only soviets.

              Why flying somehow dangeorus mission to place where are only soviets and none from german forces ?

                From Axix History Forum I take this passage:

                "...The vst.Fsch-Pz.Gren.Ers.-&-Ausb.Rgt. 1 "HG" ["verstärkt" = strenghtened] fought within the divisional structure of 83. Inf.Div. on the left bank of the Vistula [Weichsel]. Major fightings "HG" was involved were the defense of an enemy attack to the flank in the area NEUENBURG and the heavy repulse at the KLEMPINER BERG, the last defensive position on the hights (20km) at the gates of DANZIG. On 9 May 1945 the remnants of the unit went into Soviet captivity on Halbinsel HELA....".

                  True story with, some remnants of german forces were active there till the end. Also in Hel.

                  But again at early march frontline according to german map was behind Neuenburg. So, if he landed there (20 april) - it wasn't strictly in Neuenburg because that would be his last flight - and guy would be captured or even killed. Something I can not understand.

                  Flugbuch is strictly saying about "Landung" in Neuenburg.

                  How ???? What flugplatz in "Neuenburg" if there were according to map soviets ??? And short time flight ??? 20 minutes ?? Did germans had other different flugplatz callsed as Neuenburg ??

                    Would I be correct to say, that from the Flugbuch, that he took off from Buchwalde ?

                    The entry Prag bzakowice would that be Prag Czech republic. It took 60mins to reach Prag bzakowice. There were a number of locations called Buchwalde (Poland and Germany). There are two north of Prag at a distance of approx. 130km and 160km. The Ju52 seems to have a top speed of 265km/hr. So would travelling at 160km/hr be regarded as too slow or would that be average speed. So maybe a possibility. He then went on a 5 min journey from Prag and then another 5 min journey back to Prag. He then went on a journey to Neuenburg (if correct) that took 20 mins. So at 160km/hr must be approx. 50-60 km away which would still be within Czech republic maybe on German or Polish border. (all based on Prag being Prag, Czech). I couldn't find any of the other locations mentioned anywhere expect Buchwalde.

                      Then it could be : Nymburk (German translation : Nimburg or Neuenburg an der Elbe).

                        Yes that made things more clear. Sorry for words but but his handwriting was not readable for me.

                        So in the end we know he operated mostly southern sector easfront on last months. Dresden, Briesen flights for Breslau and Nymburg as Archi described

                        Now is clear image of actvity our flyer.

                                Neuenburg a/der Weichsel? In April 1945? No such possibility, as it was lost on 20th February.

                                The "Neuenburg" in question is, in fact Milovice near Nymburk.

                                14/04/45 - landing at Prag-Tsakowice (Cakovice)
                                14/04/45 - landing at Letnany (another airfield in Prague)
                                15/04/45 - landing at Tsakowice
                                17/04/45 - landing at Neuenburg, 20 min. flight from Prague region
                                19/04/45 - landing at Ruzin, which is yet another airfield in Prague
                                20/04/45 - landing at Neuenburg

                                Neuenburg = Milovice near Nymburk, some 40 kilometres off Prague
