    EKII as converted RK?

    Hi guys!

This photo was taken at the end of the war (05.05.1945), during the surrender of German officers.

There seems to be an officer wearing an EKII as a field-made KC. Maybe a late recipient?

        Wageningen , Holland

        Interesting picture!

The hotel is "Hotel de Wereld" in Wageningen (Holland) where the Germans surrended the Allies.

          ???

Is there any more info regarding the when, where or who of the photo as the details are interesting. Looks like there was a fashion agreement to wear a motorcyclist's coat if available, visor hat without the chin cord and some kind of bling at the neck. Are these SS troops? The eagles on the far left and "RKT" visor hats do look SS style and the M-43 cap looks like it has a skull he forgot to take off. Many unanswered questions....and no happy faces....

I agree--they are SS who have replaced their TKs with WH cockades (note the worn velvet on the one visor, typical of Kleiderkasse pieces).

              Gents,
What are your thoughts on the collar tabs (removed?) on the centre figure and the belt buckle on the far left? Hard to tell but it looks to be a Heer buckle.
              Regards

Very interesting. I agree, these are SS officers like "camouflaged" in Heer officers ! IMO, buckle on left man is a SS one.

It is unusual that they switched out their insignia--a lot of them just ditched their TKs at the time of surrender (like this guy captured in Berlin):
