    Hi!

Could it be Hans Carl Freiherr von Esebeck?

    Best regards

        Who is this DAK general??

        Hello,

He appears to be Generalmajor Hans-Karl Freiherr von Esebeck. He was the divisional commander of the 15th Panzer from April 15, 1941 to July 25, 1941. Promoted to Generalmajor on April 15, 1941. Your photo was taken after that date. Wounded at the Tobruk front, he was replaced by Generalmajor Neumann-Silkow on July 25.

Neat info on him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans-Ka...rr_von_Esebeck (listing him as commander of the 15th from April 13, 1941 - May 26, 1941).

Below is a photo identifying your man as Gm. Esebeck.

            Todd,

I goofed on the identification of your DAK general. Although he looks like Generalmajor von Esebeck, I found a photo in a reference book that looks ALOT more like your guy. He is General Johannes Streich, commander of the 5th Leichte. Below is General Streich in April, 1941 (Tobruk offensive.)

Looks a heck of alot like your photo too! In fact, the photos appear to be the same. Below taken from Dal McGuirk's book: "Rommel's Army in Africa", ISBN: 0-09-166450-0, page 74.

Very nice photo! Is yours' an original?

            Best Wishes,

            Christopher

              Thanks Christopher,

Yes, I do have the original press photo (Hoffmann) which was missing its press caption. Attached is the complete photo which happens to be the same pic in the book. Thanks again for the identification and information regarding this General.

No, your original suggestion was right. Esebeck. Streich is easy to track and recognizable. Any two bit DAK book should have it. Makes you wonder how people can claim they write books.

                Cheers
