Any body have a "Familien Chronik"?

I have both a black and red "Familien Chronik"

They both are the same size, have the same layout and the same artist. The red one however, has many more illustrations and quotes on the pages.

From the information I've gathered from forum members, they seem to be very similar to the SS version.

There doesn't seem to be a huge array of information on the internet, so I figured I ask:

Does anyone have any information on these books?

Does anyone have something like this? Maybe something similar or a variation?

I'm interested in seeing what you guys have!

      Hi,

      various printers made those "Familien-Chronik".
I have a dozen of variants in my archives (including many "SS" covers), i have a mint "SS" variant, i will check at home to tell you if only the front cover of the "Familien-Chronik" is different or if special inserts are included.
In my opinion, only a very few sheets of paper may be different from one issue "SS" to other "common" ones.

      See You

        Familien Chronik

Here is a link to more info.

I have studied these books for years and now am done with collecting them.
There were many versions for different political entities, primarily party members and military units which shows the importance that the Reich placed on heredity and family history and breeding. There were even versions for the BDM with BDM insignia on the cover. All chroniks usually have fold-out ahnentafel inside. The covers came in solid colors red, black, brown and even marbled designs and sometimes contained Embossed insignia of either the SA runes, SS runes, SS runes within a circle, or just a rotating swastika, or the familiar Eagle and Swastika of the State but sometimes there was nothing on the covers except the "Familien Chronik" title in either silver, gold, or white lettering. SS Versions can sometimes have a page featuring the SS Motto MEHT and have been observed with either a plain black cover or a cover with ss runes. I have even seen an SS rune tab glued to one ss chronik cover.

They are hard to find and collectors only seem to be interested in the SS version although they are all can contain beautiful artwork. SS versions have been seen with and without the artwork inside and with both the different motto pages in the beginning.

And the importance of these books was written about. It was to be an important part of the ss or yule corner and placed on the family chest:

            23. The Family Book
Every SS Man has to be strictly reminded here of his duty, of which his sons and daughters will remind him in the future. He has to ask his still living parents and grandparents to write down all their childhood memories immediately and all other relevant memories which should be handed on to future generations. The names and dates on the ancestry plaque will be meaningless to future generations if they are not accompanied by as many stories as possible about the life, the difficulties, the celebrations, and the environment in which they lived. This knowledge of their blood line will protect our future generations against the advances of the newly rich and the social climbers. The grandparents, who often have a very good memory for childhood events, are obliged to record their knowledge and experiences for their great grandchildren. The SS Man should simply walk up to them, put a notebook in front of them, and say: Now write down how it used to be. Their reluctance normally fades fast and the old people will generally enjoy writing. When the grandparents have finished, it is the turn of the parents of the SS Man. He himself should also start to write down everything, but especially his experiences of the War, and the comradeship and the heroism of his fellow SS Men. These stories should be read to the family on Yuletide Eve. In this way the essential family spirit is being preserved and strengthened.
