first 2018 group

hi guys,
this group came in yesterday. it contains award documents for the EK2, ostmedal and wound badges in black, silver and gold. it also contains a post war ersatzkarte for his post war jobs.

his first award was for the ostmedal. he recieved it on the 10th of August 1942. the second award is for the EK2 wich he recieved on the 26th of September 1942. he probably recieved this award for the fighting around Liwny as this is where the 45th division was around that time.

his third award was the wound badge in black for a wound sustained on the 6th of February 1943. and his fourth the wound badge in silver for wounds sustained on the 6th of February, the 21st of September and the 21st of October 1943.

his fifth and final award was the wound badge in gold for his fifth wound sustained on the 19th of January 1945. by then he was a member of 8./Artl.Rgt. 219 wich was part of the 183rd Volksgrenadier Division. this unit was fighting on the western front and he was wounded during operation Blackcock wich was executed by the British army. the operation took place from the 14th until the 27th of January 1945.

lastly we have his ersatzkarte. this was filled out in may 1946 and has a couple of jobs listed. first he was working with the Granitwerke Gusen wich was near the former concentration camp Mauthausen. after that he started working for the Osterreichische bundesbahn and probably stayed there till his retirement.

i have a couple of questions, first of all the autographs on the award documents. can anyone make any of them out? i really cant. then his adress wich is written on the card i cant make that out either. only that it is in Linz, his place of birth.

Very nice grouping! The signature on the Urkunde for the Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42 is of Hauptmann Friedrich ("Fritz") Branowitzer-Rodler.

Also, it is a guess, but the signature on the Urkunde for the Eiserne Kreuz II. Klasse might be that of Oberst Friedrich-Wilhelm John, who eventually became a Generalleutnant.
