    "Großdeutschland" squad on a StuG

    Hi to everyone....
    Just entered the collection this great "press" pic.....
    A little bit damaged but really a detailed one.....but unfortunately no captions on the back....Russia for sure (you can see a PPsh coming from behind a soldier)....

        Wow nice pic. Maybe "Kursk". From the beautiful StuG to the cuff titles and the
        variety of small weapons to the looks on there faces. Call me crazy and I know war
        is hell, but I would give anything to be riding with them. Very cool

          That photo appears on page 74 of God, Honor, Fatherland. It mentions that the squad is from Inf.Rgt GD 1 and the StuG belongs to Leutnant Konrad Schenk of 3./StuG.Abt GD.
          There are a couple more photos in the series which state that the men formed part of Kampfgruppe Köhler's advance down the great bend of the Don River in mid 1942. The 'Köhler' would be Oberst Otto Köhler (DKiG) who commanded Inf.Rgt GD 1 and was killed during the heavy fighting around Rzhev on 1st December 1942.
