I guess he could be aircrew and it could be Africa but from the photo alone there could be other options.

There isn't even anything I this photograph which says that he is in or served in Africa. He could be any Luftwaffe officer any where tropical kit was authorised.

Thanks for info.

From more research in some letters from this guy I found out that he served in Afrika Korps and that the photo probably is taken in 1942 or 1943, I will get back
with more info.
