Polizei Division 1940 France + French armour

    Hello,

Here are some armour photos from an SS Polizei photo album based in France 1940 through to Leningrad 1942.

These photos are France 1940 & I am wondering if anyone can

    A)
Confirm the exact armour models ?
    B)
Confirm if there is any additional information about the unit these tanks came from and which exact battles they were lost in ?

I am basing the Id's on this chart:

    https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...36529a3511.jpg

    I believe this is a Renault D1 (numbered 87) :

This looks like an FCM36 No.30042

These next ones appear to be a mixture of Panhard 165 & 178, some cannibalised for parts and others pressed into German service.

I have gone through the Regenberg book on Orpo armour and it seems that these might not have ended up in Polizei service (open to correction on that).

    I believe this is a (Dalek looking) Panhard 165 as opposed to the more common 178 ;

seems to be Panhard 165 German number either 9, 13 or 19 :

2x more Panhard 165 German numbers 10 and 11. Can anyone id the tactical sign /unit these ended up with ? If an Polizei armour unit I'd love to confirm !

Panhard 178 (?) cannibalised for parts French number MM18015

    Thanks for checking,
    Gerard

      "I believe this is a Renault D1 (numbered 87) "

From the looks of it one of the ones that was hudly brought over from North Africa to prop up the Weygand line.

Here are other pictures ( again ) from Thierry Faucheret (a french squadron leader) website. https://www.chars-francais.net/2015/...sk=view&id=694

This is correct it is a AMD PANHARD 178 with the N° MM18015 after combats in belgium before being "cannibalised"

Voncq is where the Polizei Division faced it’s so called baptism of fire on 9th and 10th of June 1940 in ‘The Witches Cauldron’ (per the division history 'Die Guten Glaubens Waren') so that fits perfectly. Thanks very much for that information. Also the link to the site :

That shows 5 different photos of the same Panhard 178 M18015 in the field !
