    Press Photo og Hitler, 27.5.1943

    Hi

I just found this in my collection. I had forgotten it.

The note on the back is in Swedish, but says Hitler gives the Finnish "Lottachefen" Fanny Luukonen, the "Stern des Deutschen Adlerordens"

Can anyone please post a picture of the medal?
The officer in the middle, anyone know him?

    hello Sverri,

very interesting photo, this are the scans of the "Deutscher Adlerordens"
that I taken of Forman's guide of third reich awards book.
as I can see in the photo ( the box that Hitler hold in his hand and the year of 1943 write in the photo) the award is the type awarded between 1943 and 1945. I think that is the seccond class because as you can see the eagle in the box of the first and seccond class are differents, so the type in this photo looks in my opinion as the box of the seccond class and the seccond class had the neck cross and the first if I am not wrong have a sash cross.

in the left of the images is the first class and in the right the seccond class.
I hope this help a little.

    cordial greetings

        Hello
        Thanks for sharing.
The caption said that Fanny Luukonen was a "lottachafen" which is I suppose, her rank or function. It is seemingly written in Swedish. Do anybody know what is a lottachafen ??
        Thanks in advance

Fanni Luukkonen was the founder and leader of the Lotta-organisation. It was a womens organisation that included nurses, air-survailence personal, helpers, etc. In it's height it included around 250 000 Finns. It was disbanded after the continuation war because the russians felt it was a "dangerous organisation".
