Talking about HUGE ironcross!!

I bought a scanner today, this is one of my pictures. Look at the guy with the camo helmet has anyone seen a cross like this before?

They're just goofing off. The guy may have won the Knight's Cross and as a joke, fashioned him this oversized example. Just goes to prove the Germans had a sense of humor just like everyone else, and not the wild eyed savages as depicted in movies, TV shows and books.

That is a military tradition still carried on today. Many bases I've been to put large goofy rank on folks who are selected for promotion. They are required to wear it all day.
