This is a photo from Battle of Breslau, is there a reference to what happened to these german soldiers, it appears ambush while strung out on the street? regards graeme

Ambush for sure. They never even had time to brake ranks for cover, and were hit and died in line ! Tom

at this time in the war it was a fight to the death. I am sure the soviets lost twice as many men to achieve Stalin's objectives

My time in Vietnam I never fought in a city, but we NEVER grouped up and always spread out so this type of ambush was difficult. Tom

yes you would have thought sending a couple at a time with supporting fire would have been the way to go. Maybe inexperienced/poorly led? regards graeme
