Stijn, thank you for your comments! Ian, those are the only "inside" photos available in the said album, and seemingly no more helmet photos from wartime, unfortunately!

I can post an enlarged scan of the helmet photo later, but it may not help a lot - the original is not so good in quality.

            nice pictires

            Hello,

Very nice pictures gentlemen , Francois once again you hit me on my chair ( => i tought that you did only collect Fighter related stuff so i guess you should all send that glider stuff towards me for safe keeping ) , i like the picture very much withe the table and the awards , thats for sure some kind of NSFK award ceremony ( is the pic. dated or anything like that ? )

Manuel regarding that last picture , it is indeed impossible to say that picture is taken in this or that plane without seing more of the inside ( as Ian wil know i do not think they ( military glider pilots ) had wire transfer , mayby in some rare cases but i have never encountered one )

I think i have found the name of that fragile looking glider plane : ESG = Einheits Schul Gleiter , also called the Grunau-9 ( i love anything that glides in the air but there does exist such a vast amount of types during pre war years in Germany that it can be very hard to tell this or that type )

            Cordial Greetings,

              entry in DLV flugbuch

              Hello Manuel ,

For your interest i show here a page out of one of my glider related flugbuchs ( this one DLV = Deutsche Luftsport Verband , the training started for this person 14.04.1936 ( as a member of the Flieger HJ ) ) => you can clearely see that the flight nr. 3 towards 5 are made with another type of ESG , the flight nr. 6 shows clearely the entry " Grunau 9 " , this is the type as shown by you & Francois in the pictures

              Cordial Greetings,

                  Giday everyone,

Thanks for posting more photos of the glider pilots.

Stijn, I have found some references that suggest that some of the Go 242 gliders were equipped with communication equipment.

A couple of vets have also stated that they believe this to be the case.

                  All the best,

                  Ian
