I appreciate what you say, Markus, but it doesn't answer my question...

Sorry Jeremy. To my knowledge there is no reference book dealing with the original/copy-original A.H. signature. There's only the Merten story to back up the theory of the caligraph, but for me personally it's enough. It's quite obvious to me when you look at the uniformity of A.H. template signatures on regular KC docs and then compare them to signatures found on OL and Swords and promotion docs from the same timeframe.

Thanks Markus. I think the printed version of Hitler sigs on various docs is clear. I am just interested if there was any reliable source which mentions autopen use for Hitler's signature as appears to have been done for Goering (though again this is open to debate).

Thanks Chen. My reading of Hamilton is facsimile = printed. That is not the issue. I think it is clear what is printed. The issue is whether there was autopen use...

I agree. But i think if that document was signed by Hitler, this means it was actually touched by the Hitler too.

I'm not sure if it was Ian kershaws book nemesis that stated a ink stamp was also used, not sure how practical that would be also the people who printed the awards document would also have to have a printing die for the signature
