My latest find!
I have been collecting Berlin Endkampf for some time, and thanks to many on here andf on Facebook - I was able to find exactly what I am lucking for.
But the buck stopped when trying to find a real Panzerbär!
I scoured the web up and down months on end, called all my collector friends and told everyone to be on the look out for me.
It took asking about 100 Collectors and Newspaper collectors in Berlin.
Needless to say, its likely the most minty original copy I have ever seen, only on one edge the light has damaged it.
Here is were the twist begins....
It was found inside an envelope, the envelope I never paid much attention too.
It was to be delivered in Person to Walter Ulbricht...

It was sent from another early KPD member and former KZ inmate called Jenny Matern.

About the timeframe of the envelope: Street was renamed to Wilhelm-Pieck in January 1951, Walter Ulbricht's office moved into a more suitable building in 1959. So Ulbricht received this in the 1950s.
Whats crazy is - Ulbricht returned to Berlin on the 30th April, one day after the last Panzerbär was published. And set up 'Gruppe Ulbricht'....
What I asking myself the whole time was - Why did he want it? Then I was made aware of this Article which quotes the Panzerbär and the KPD in that timeframe.
It was the last official 'zeitschrift' of the Third Reich - it is also the first time where they openly admitted that they had lost everything.
Enjoy the Pictures! Now time to get some Museum glass!
Thanks to the guys over on Facebook on the Documents Group for the help and information on Ulbricht and Matern!
