I'm going to say it is a fake. Dubious stamp and I'm not sure if Totenkopf was even in the Crimea. Totenkopf was with Heeresgruppe Nord at this time.

          Hi,

The only SS unit which received the Krimschild was 1st SS Division 'LSSAH', and within that only the Pionier Bataillon, Artillery Regiment and Sepp Dietrich himself received it.

So, as everyone is saying, fake.

          Cheers
          Steve

A general comment and not about this particular document.

You do get situations where soldiers transferred to other units and were awarded decorations qualified for with their previous unit yet issued by their new. The award should reflect the soldiers unit at time of qualifying but that didn't always happen. You will also see use of such fieldtyped award docs for awards that the new unit otherwise did not have or were involved with. But you couldn't accept something like this without backup evidence like a wehrpass or soldbuch at least.

To add to Simon's comment: there's also situations where soldiers, mainly officers, were present at certain battles and received medals, even though their units were not there. For example, I have a Wehrpass to a highly decorated panzer officer who received the Krimschild but the 2 units covering this time period were Pz.Ers.Abt.5 and "O.K.H. (Gen.d.schn.Tr.)". I can only assume he was in the Crimea as some sort of advisor. The only panzer unit in the Crimea was 22. Panzer-Division and he definitely was not a member.
