I have two questions about this subject and I hope in your help:

1. May the present day german soldiers still be awarded with the Iron Cross?
2. When the Iron Cross was reissued (in 1957) was the ribbon the same of the Third Reich?

I believe that the country has to be at war and a new "vintage" of Iron Cross would need to be introduced by the government. ON 1st Sept 1939, Hitler renewed, or re-introduced, the Order of the Iron Cross in the various forms we know.
The 1957 version does have the same ribbon as the 1939 but it is really a "denazified" version which enables the veterans to wear their decorations with pride.

Terry is right :

1 No only can a German soldier get the iron cross when Germany is at war , she hasn't been at war since 1945 .

2 yes ribbon is the same colour
