RK ceremony of unknown Hauptmann

Hello everyone -

Here is a series of photos of a LW Hauptmann receiving his RK on a rather chilly day. Appears to have taken place on the Russian front. I really like the variety of warm clothing and headgear utilized. Presenting his award is Kommandierenden General Eines Fliegerkorps Ritterkreuztrager General Leutnant Deichmann. Does anyone have any ideas who this Hauptmann might be? Thankx in advance - erickn

I'm not a lufty type really so i could well be off here. I'm just wondering if this is not North Norway or Finland? Looking at the general it looks like it could be Stumpff. Working on that assumption and the Ju-88 i'll have a guess at KG26 or 1(F)\124. Perhaps Hans Wolff RK 12.01.42 as Hauptmann in 1(F)124.

If Paul Deichmann's rank was GenLt, then this was taken between 20.04.44 and 20.04.45. He was duirng this time commander of I Fliegerkorps ( turned into 18 Flieger Div ) and one KG under his command was KG4 General Wever operating out of Hungary. Perhaps this wouild narrow our search a bit.

The second pic from the top seesm to show another pilot getting an award from Deichmann.

There were three KG4 pilots that got RK on the same day 12.03.45
Hptm Rolf Rannersmann
ObLt Dietrich Grassmann
ObFwb Paul Amman

I have never seen any pics of any of the three.

Hi Elwyn,

I cannot tell for positive he is the rank of General leutnant in these photos. I have a newspaper clipping of him @ this rank taken on dec.6 1944 where his rank was spelled out as Gereral leutnant. At this time he was awarding Feldwebel Horst Hermann & Oberfeldwebel Edhofer of 2./s.g.2 Immelmann the RK somewhere on the russian ft. Thankx for your help!
