    Antique Store Finds (Scharnhorst Photo)

    Hello gents,

I able to go and search through a few local antique stores yesterday and ended up finding some really neat items for super cheap.

The glass piece I am certain is an ashtray from the 1936 Berlin Olympics, but the two photos are a bit more mysterious to me. The first is a photo of an American fighter pilot, but no information is present on the back of it other than a "357H" in red ink. The second is what I assume to be a photo of the German battleship Scharnhorst firing its main battery. There is information on the back in German so I think it is a press photo, but I am unsure. Any information is appreciated!

On the back of the Scharnhorst photo I can read

"...Photo... W'hafen (Wilhelmshafen), Rheinstr. 55... .. RM Nr. 370..Nachdruck verboten"

I thik it's a press or propaganda photo.

      Ah, just as a suspected.

Any idea on the American photo?

Can you provide a better high-def picture of the P-47. There should be a data block on this side of the aircraft which will include the serial number.

The "N5" could also indicate a Stateside Training Base. Perry Army Airfield in Florida used an "N" and had P-47's.

          Here you go.

I can't seem to see any sign of a data block in the photo, however...
