    SSLAH wound badge document

    Hi all,

    What's your thoughts on this SS wound badge document?

    The stamps been covered at this stage, but I have no idea what this document says?

    Also shown is the Soldiers record ax part of a LSSAH Panzer Grenadier regiment.

          It's a good indicator of whether or not the document itself is real.

            They normally just cover the swastika and like Hank said, without being able to read the stamp, which would show the unit's name or Feldpostnummer, you can't truly authenticate the document.

                      Well, to me it looks good. However, I'm not up on "proper" abbreviations for the SS/LAH, so confirmation of that would be helpful. But I think it looks okay.

                        Very strange writing, IMO!

                        It should be written:

                        SS-Panzergrenadier Konrad Claus
                        2./SS-Pz.A.A. "LSSAH"
                        or
                        2./SS-Pz.A.A. "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler"

                        Sometimes A.A. was written out, too: Aufklärungs-Abteilung

                          Yes, but it's written in a Heeres-Reservelazarett, not by the man's unit. I have one in a famous officer's grouping where the rank was written as "Hauptmann" instead of "Hauptsturmführer" by the officials of the Lazarett.

                              Tony - what Peter is saying is that the proper titles, ranks and abbreviations were not always used by hospital personnel. Their specialty was not necessarily military nomenclature. So, this type of mistake would be alarming if this document was a war badge or EK (produced by a military unit), but it's more acceptable when seen on wound documents.

                              Heeres-Reservelazarett is an army hospital.
