What kind of weapon is this?

Can anyone tell me what is hanging under this balloon? Look at the people standing under the balloon, that thing is huge!

It looks like a self-propelled cupola. the wings look like it provides lift and decent, the wings appear to be in an ascent position. The front part looks like a engine nacelle can't tell if there is a propellor. Can't imagine it was very sucessful for aerial recon., a slow moving behemoth would make a very inviting target for aerial gunners. The ballon is not as big as you think, the ground crew actually appears to be further away in the background and not underneath it, if you look at the bicycle in the foreground the balloon is somewhere in between. Very nice picture indeed.

Theres something not quite right about this picture. To me it appears to be a put together piece perhaps done in the war for propaganda purposes. I Cant explain it but it doesnt look right to me.
        Best regards

It does have a superimposed look about it, now that you mention it.

if you look close under the blimp you can see lines that go down to the plane thing?? there is one line for each wing and acouple for the back of it. also you can see space in between the wing and body of the frame of the craft, this indicates that it was used for an up and down force and not a lifting wing like a plane, so the body of the plane won't lift toward the blimp.

May have to rethink this. If this is a plane to fly the blimp, how was it steered? I don't see anything that could be a rudder control, it looks like it can go up/down/straight but left or right?

it could be a unmaned weapon, maybe it was to be sent over to england and the plane thing is carrying a big bomb? and when the english see it they shoot it down and it blows up? or it comes off the blimp by it's self.

also it could turn if one wing turned flat pointing strait up and the other stays flat, so it would turn slowly and work that way. but it would have to be remote controled???

I´m surprised that noone knows this thing. Could it be some kind of V-weapon that is transported this way?

This photo is one of over 200 photos in a panzer album. I am collecting photos and i think i can make out a faked picture. This is a regular picture!
Just because we can´t tell what it is, it don´t have to be faked

Its not that I cant work out what it is it is plainly due to the fact that in my experience this appears to be a faked photo. One simple thing is it doesnt have a shadow, the top of the balloon itself is not as crisp as the rest of the image and if the picture is so bright why is the baloon so dark? I'd love to be proven wrong though, as this appears to be a very interesting thing! a new german flying gas cylinder??
                        Regards
