    Document/photo grouping Johann Agena

I love to see groupings that more fully round out the life of the soldier -- not just a solitary, random photo or medal without context. Here I present to you Johann Agena, whose story begins in the SA and ends in a POW camp in France...

A very nice pencil sketch of Johann is included.

There are many letters and photo negatives. The bottom stack of letters are his correspondence as a POW.

It's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A!

Johann corresponded with Erna Saathoff during his enlistment and his time as a POW. They were eventually married in 1949 after his release. Erna died in 2001, Johann in 2006.

              Did you know him personally?

No, I did not, Jeff. What little I know has been gleaned from the documents and a genealogy site. I also have a daily journal that may be from a brother or relative perhaps. Kharkov is mentioned quite a bit.

Here's another tidbit from the group that some might find interesting.
