Photo Signed From Hitler - For Review

Hello collectors!

I have the possibility to buy from a dealer a picture signed from Adolf Hitler. The dealer told me this signature becomes form an Hoffmann picture took in 1937.

Before to buy it I would to be sure this is an original handwritten signature.

Could you help me please?

It is definitely done in ink (it is not printed). However, I am not knowledgeable enough to know if it auto-pen or his signature. I'm sure others will here on the WAF will have a better idea about that. If it truly is on a page from a book, I would think it would be his actual signature rather than auto-pen but let's wait to hear what others think.

I agree too. At first glance it does appear authentic. I would seen it to an autograph expert to verify before you lay out $.

To be honest, the more I study this the doubts are growing. Especially seeing the attached photo and background surface. If I was asked to make a decision, I'd say it's a fake - a very good one, but still a fake. It reminds me of the work of a very good forger who produced some hard to tell forgeries a couple of years ago. The one uniform thing about his work was that they were all in pencil.

This one certainly intrigues me and I've studied it as close as possible on my screen. I've also looked closely at some of the excellent forgeries produced a few years ago for comparison. The other indications that point towards it possibly being the work of the expert forger of recent years (in addition to it being in pencil) are the lack of the crossed vertical bar in the capital "H" and the failure to lift the pencil entirely from the surface when crossing the letter "f". All his work displayed these same characteristics. Having said all that, this is definitely one which requires physical examination before reaching a final decision.
