    Demelhauber visits Div J

EDIT! Moderator, if this thread is on wrong forum, pls place it where it belongs!!

    Hi!

My friends grandfather was a captain in Division J's HQ 30.10.41-12.7.42. That divison had both Finnish & German troops fighting together against Russians.

My friend borrowed me his grandfathers photo album and I scanned those all.

Among them were 3 pics when SS division commander Demelhauber (did I spell it right?) visited Finnish III Army Corps HQ.

    Here you go!

    1st pic:
Demelhauber & Finnish division commander, colonel Palojärvi. Captain on backround is my friends grandfather.

    Thanks,
    Miikka

Dinner time. Finnish officers don't look too keen to salute...
Next to Demelhauber, eyes closed, Finnish III Army Corps commander general Siilasvuo.

Would love to see more of these.. I think the art work on the wall behind them looks pretty darn interesting as well

Looks fantastic so far! More please!

BTW, It's Karl-Maria Demelhuber, which places these photos to the autumn of '41 i think. The 'salute' photo shows Dietl too.

When I get in the office on Monday I'll look through the rest of the pics (those are on my office pc). There is at least one more from that same occasion where art work on the wall can be seen better along with dinner table still "untouched".

Thanks Simon pointing out Dietl! There was also pic about Siilasvuo & Dietl shaking hands from that same occasion (I think). There were no dates on pics apart from that time frame. On first pic I think there is little bit snow on the ground so it can be late autumn when that visit took place. That location was up in north so snow came on early in there.

I'll post those two pics on Monday + all others where are Germans.
I remember one set where Dietl is in frontline with his staff & Finnish commanders. Those are from up north, Kalastajasaarento if I remember correctly. Almost as north as you can go in Europe..

              Cheers,
              Miikka

...and look who also popped in, Demelhauber's boss! My friend told that his grandfather was assigned to Himmler's escort since he could speak fluent German. Grandpa told that Himmler had excellent memory, could remember all small details about Finland and asked a **** load of questions!

                  In the middle general Siilasvuo.

I found also few pics about Dietl and I'll post those on another thread.
