    Himmler letter real?

    Hello!

I'm not too familiar with Himmler letters/signatures and would like to get your opinions on this one. It's written to Rommel thanking him for an advance copy of his "Infantry Attacks" book. Rommel is addressed only by rank (not by name) which is unusual to me.

Is this letter good or bad?

    Cheers!

A tough call to make. At the time this letter is dated, Rommel did hold the rank as addressed, and his first book, "Infanterie greift an," was first published in 1937. But to my eye this letter appears to be a carbon of the original...though this may be the fault of the photo. Certainly the address of Himmler's office in Berlin on the letterhead is correct, but I am not familiar enough with the history of Himmler's stationery to know if this letterhead was in use at the date written.

      Sorry...

Thanks guys! I truly appreciate your opinions!! Indeed, Rommel's rank and book publishing date match up with the letter which is encouraging. Did you notice the small initial (R?) on the bottom right corner of the letter? Unusual but not discerning to me...

          Cheers!

It's not the letter "R", but is "Br". This indicates that Rudolf Brandt has approved the letter before sending it to his boss for signature. Note his initials (Bra) also appear in the typed reference at the top, before the initials of the typist (Gr).

                Typical Himmler signature, IMO.
