It's not an award document but the recommendation for the award.

It doesn't look complete. It doesn't have the normal Vorschlage cover and personal information page.

You're right, if those are the only two pages or sides, then it is incomplete and if that's the case i guess it was taken for the signatures alone.

Correct, only one doc (page) written on both sides.

Even in incomplete form, signed by Manfred Dorr, Karl Ullrich and Herbert-Otto Gille, these are all very desirable signatures for any RKT signature collection.

If my memory serves me well, I think I remember this piece originally being sold by Andre Huesken some time ago.

              Regards Richard.

I wonder if the rest of the recommendation is still sitting in an archive in Germany somewhere.....

Manfred Dorr is a highly respected, knowledgeable and prolific documenter of those men who were highly decorated while serving in the German Armed Forces in World War II. His book on the holders of the Close Combat Clasp in Gold is highly regarded however I think recommending the award of the Ehrenblattspange is probably beyond his responsibilities :-)

The signature you are referring to is of course that of the exceptional commander of Regiment "Germania", Hans Dorr, holder of the Kights Cross with Oakleaves and Swords!

No doubt from among the stolen proposals originally taken from Berlin Document Center. The cover is shown and the document's text content is with the biography of Velde in volume 8 of "German Cross in Gold Holders of the SS and Police." Velde was also a German Cross recipient. The Rückkämpfer notation is for one who was positioned behind enemy lines at some point and returned to his unit. The notation was added to proposals, among other award parameter modifications, in 1944. All explained in my series, but is 2AM and am a bit to weary to type all all of them.

Thanks Mark, if there are scans of the complete recommendation whilst it was at the BDC it proves it was stolen and any future owner of the page above should be aware of that, irrespective of whether any authorities are currently interested or not.

A massive schooolboy error on my behalf! I cannot beleive I wrote that!

You are of course totally correct, it is Hans Dorr.

Most Waffen-SS KC and KC proposals are stolen, those I have seen that were not were unapproved (a box of rejected Silver proposals apparently came home as a trophy)

Considering "low end mentally" collectors steal funeral ribbons after burial ceremonies, rob collectors, and steal from dealer tables, I doubt being stolen matters to the low life category of collector (or dealer). They rate with those who dig up graves looking for items.

I am 99.9% sure that when it was being offered that it was without the front page of the document.

                              Regards Richard.
