Star of David marking

Hello! May be someone knows for what purposes was utilized Star of David marking on railway coaches during WW2? Were railway coaches utilized for Jews transportation marked this way? These two images are from different sources and were made in 1945 by Red Army soldiers in Germany.

The 2nd pic is a railway car from France. You can read 40 persons (Hommes) or 8 Horses

(Cheavaux). So the symbol could be related with France.

Owners mark if I am not mistaken.

Judging from the age of the stock it most likely predates the formation of the SNCF.

The chances are it has nothing to do with the Star of David, plenty of other groups used this symbol in Europe, one that springs to mind in Germany is the Brauerstern, see this link http://www.brewingmuseum.org/article...t-brewers-star

I think that this is some form of classification marking for the particular carriage in each photo. Here is an open carriage marked in much the same way, with both France and SNCF markings also present.

The star apparently denotes a railcar capable of speeds up to 105 km/h. The number inside the star is the maximum load in tonnes.

Hi guys,
Not trying to hijack the thread but was hoping I could get some help with some French railway insignia info of the SNCF. I bought an armband and patch, the armband has a nazi stamp on it. I should have the items this week.
