          Both were assigned to the Wachregiment Grossdeutschland after the July 1944 plot on Hitler...the idea was to show the public what sort of men protected the Fuehrer. After all, the Regiment had a key role in stopping the plot, rounding up many of the conspirators and executing some.

          Schlee was a Gebirgsjaeger. Richter earned 2 TDBs.
