Picture identification

Hello everybody,
a couple of days ago i started scanning an old b/w film my father left me....
i was wondering if you could help me identify the pictures.I dont know if the pictures were taken by my grandfather who was a german soldier in WW2
or if my father bought the film somewhere.
The film is not in a good shape and my knowledge of photoshop limited but there are still a lot of details visible.......i will put all of the pictures on my website and post the links but i want to start with this one.
Is it possible to tell by the numberplate of the car where it was in action?

this may be tottaly wrong but just from the eagle decal on the helmet, the presence of the horse drawn carts and the early luvered motor bike cariiage, id guess german invasion of France 1940, but the only thing wrong with that is a have a weird feleling it could be a little latter maybe 1941 Balkans.
Sorry i dont know how to track down registration numbers but i think another member might be able to have a try at that emblem behind the mans head (looks like a big white A)

Hello Martin,
I don't think anyone can help you with the number plate, as there's not some kind of database where we can have a look.
But I'm sure when you post some more pictures from your dad, we will be able to tell you where he fought, what kind of unit he was in, etc.

Picture indentification

Hi Martin, great photos, on the first photo you see the Borgward, it is a 2 tons or 3 tons truck ( it is not possible to see this on your photo: 2 tons has two wheels on the rear axle, the 3 tons four wheels on the rear axle! ).
In the D 669/35 you can find that the Borgward Typ 3 t Benzin G.W. was built from the date 3.9.1941.
The vehicle was the "mittlere Lkw" with a 6 Cylinder 3,4 litre engine ( 73 Bhp )
The numberplate WH-43177 belongs to the Wehrmacht Heer , Wehrkreis IV this was Dresden.

Seems like France to me. I think the last two photos you posted give the best chance of finding out where, especially that fort on the island.
