    Merry Christmas,

I would appreciate it if someone can enlighten me with the name of these officers, thank you!

I don't have their names, but here's a step in the right direction. Hans Michilek was with the SS-Kavallerie Brigade in 1941, and the Das Reich Division in 1943. I can't identify any SS-Kavallerie officers with Oberführer rank in 1941 or 1942, so Das Reich is more likely. Then, the Oberführer might be Friedrich Karl Dermietzel, the divisional Surgeon.

Definitely not Dermietzel. The face is familiar - he reminds me of Gottfried Klingemann.

Thank you gentlemen for your help.

The reason I posted this photo was to reply to a question - http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...&postcount=858 . Somehow I thought that (like Marc) Michalek was with SS-Kavallerie-Brigade in 1941, which I mentioned in my first from-memory reply. Then I searched for my emails for the unit attribution information during my Michalek estate deal, but the only thing I found was that the seller mentioned SS-Totenkopf-Regiment 4 (sic) in addition to Das Reich. I have no clue why I mentioned (from my memory) SS-Kavallerie-Brigade.

If the unit is SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 4 ( SS-Infanterie-Regiment 4 as of Feb 1941 ), Klingemann seems to be the right answer. It also could be from his time with 2. SS-Infanterie-Brigade. It's not Das Reich yet, because the photo sequence shows LKWs with sword insignia.

That could be Klingemann, on the right. It looks like him, without looking exactly like he does in some other photos. If it is Klingemann, he was promoted to Oberführer on June 21, 1941, while commanding SS-IR 4. However, a few days after his promotion, he took command of the 2. SS-Infaterie Brigade, the parent formation of his former regiment. This photo is probably from soon after his promotion, as he is not wearing clasps to his First World War EK II and EK I. Thus, the photo is circa July-August 1941.

The staff of the brigade included several men as specialist leaders, such as Surgeon, with the rank of Sturmbannführer. But the main place to find men at the rank would be in the subordinate SS-IR 4 & 5, as battalion commanders. The Sturmbannführer isn't Josef Fitzthum, the best known of these. I can't find a list of battalion commanders in SS-IR 5, but none of the others in SS-IR 4 have the right rank.

The Begleir Bataillon RFSS joined the brigade in September 1941, under command of Emil Schützeck. I'm unaware of his appearance, bu it could theoretically be him.

Hopefully, the above can help further narrow down the search for the identity of these men.
