    Who is this?

    Hi!

Anyone who recognize this KC winner?
I think that the number on his shoulder boards is 40+ the sign of a veterinary:

The pic is very fuzzy so it is dufficult to read the '40' figure on the shoulder strap.
Are you sure that the other device is the symbol for veterinarian. Might be the one devoted to the physicians.
Here is what I found for WH "artz" men :

    Assistenartz Walter Keup 21/03/1944 I/Füs. Rgt. 202
Oberartz Horst Wilcke 25/07/1942 III/Gre. Rgt. 20 (mot.)
    Stabsarzt Hans-Joachim Schulz-Merkel 23/12/43 I/Pz. Rgt. 35
    Stabarzt d.R. Friedrich Salamon 20/07/1944 II/Pz. Gre. Rgt. 26

This can not be the following ones :
Oberartz Heinrich Hüls 21/09/1944 II/Pz. Rgt. 11 since he died as of 16/08/1944
Oberfeldartz Werner Wischhusen 26/05/1940 DivisionArtz 22. Inf. Div. as ranks and seniority do not match with the photo.

    Hope this helps

      Hi Denis!

Thank you for the names. I will try to get pictures of them, an then compare. As for the number 40 and veterinary, i am not sure.

More likely to be a "B" for artillery observation unit. Medical and veterinary officers did not normally wear any unit numbers. Might also be a "k" for a motorcycle unit... I can't tell either what is between this Hauptmann's rank pips.

          Hi Rick!

I have tried to make the picture better, maybe this will help?

Paal-- you know what? I think that is the joined "BL" of an artillery observation LEHR unit. Not whatever he got the RK in, but it looks quite clear to me. If anyone else has Brian Davis's "German Army Uniforms and Insignia 1933-1945" he's got a photo (#23 of shoulder boards) of a Leutnant with that insignia. I'll scan it for comparison! Rick

                Hi Rick
The pic is too much blurry. it might also be a "US" (Unteroffizier Schule) symbol

IMHO, Seems difficult to try to identify the recipient with so much assumptions

                  Hi both!

I will try to make a better scan. It's an original photo i bought some years ago.
                  Best regards
