      That second photo is fabulous!

      The C96's, the details of equipment, unifirm is great.

      I've not seen bands over the cuff titles before ( or is it where bands have been removed?).

        in my opinion the ct's were covered for not identify the division,
        but im not sure... may be who collect the SS items can answer

          Hello Nicola.

          Yes, all insignia was removed in the first part of the war to cause confusion for the enemy. As you can see, other insignia is removed. But, I haven't seen cuffs covered before but removed as well.

          The mausers were used early war as well.

            Hi,

            The LAH covered over their rank tabs and cuff titles for the Polish campaign, in order to conceal their identity. They also painted out the SS- prefix on their vehicles. I'm not sure of SS-VT, if they did the same.

                Maybe you should post a link to this in the SS forum or the fire arms forum (for the Mausers) as I'm surprised how little attention this photo has. It deserves more!
