War Merit Cross 2nd Class signed by Generalfeldmarshall

This a new document in my collection, and it's interesting in that it seems be signed twice - once by an adjutant, and once by the Field Marshall. From 1944 in the West... what do you guys make of it?

I wonder if it is a stamp signature for the General, and the Adj's signature authorising the issue of the document.

We figured as much when we talked about it after the show... but who signed it? Recognize the signatures?

Well if I remember correctly von Rundstedt (sp) was dismissed June 29 1944, and Guenther von Kluge took over till GFM Model replaced him on 17 Aug 1944. Could it be Kluge's signature? I dont have any photo's of his chop, so probably all I have done is muddy the water's

By the looks of the letters it almost looks like "von Rundstedt"

The other signature is that of Oberst Abé.
Here's another example in a thread from the German Militaria forums for you to compare.

Thanks Simon, alas I can not read it or see the pictures (not registered, and don't understand ).

So that's the deal then - Oberst Abé signed for him?

Yeah, Abé was the adjutant for O.B. West (Rundstedt). In a nutshell the scan on the other forum showed an identical doc, awarded on the same day to another rear area unit.
