My 5th German Cross Grouping for 2015

Hi Guys !

Here is the last Group I got directly from a german Family some few Weeks ago. By far not as good as the number "'4" I have shown before, but well, I am taking what is coming... Nothing extraordinary in it, but it is my 3rd from the 31.I.D., now I have one for each infantry Regiment of this Division (12,17,82). And for those which only Question is "How much you paid ?", they will be disapointed... It was totally for free, just a Gift from People which considers It is better to be by a passionated collector than eaten by Mouses in their Attic.... Meanwhile, they have found some more Pics that they have sent me, I will present them later. Lionel. </P>

Lionel, if anybody says this about a DKiG group, they're getting too many of them. Each and every one of these groups have something extraordinary in it!

Hi Hank. Yes, it makes Sense, you are right. Regarding the docs I get and those who remained by the Family, I was able to re-construct § summarise the military career of the Guy, including the numerous Campaigns he was involved in. It was a great surprise for the Family, they were touched I did it in German to allow them a better Understanding. From Doeberitz - in the very last weeks of the war - (February 1945) he was commanded to the "Kessel Königsberg" where he had to fight against a much stronger Ennemy. He wrote two Letters to his Wife because he thought he will not return. These were very moving Letters, hard to read because he write them during the Night.... I had the priviledge to read this Moment where a Man thinks his Life is close at Hand.... It was much more value for the Daughter than the Awards documents themselves....

What a privilege to be entrusted by the family to be the custodian. If a family ever gave me something like that for free, I would personally feel obligated never to sell or trade. And when the time came to transfer the group to its next custodian, I would be pressured to find someone who would respect history and keep the grouping intact. It is a high level of responsibility. Congratulations on a special grouping and thank you for sharing.

P.s. I would love to read a translation of the letters he wrote to his family while he was in Konigsberg. Wow.
