Urkunde Marine Deutsche Spanien-Kreuz in Bronze

    Hi Guys

As I know nothing of documents I hope someone can help me with this document.

Is he Oberfeldwelbel, or does navy use other terms?

    Is he Chief Engineer?

Would he have served of "Panzerschiff" Deutschland?

Any idea of the numbers in the corner?

Looks like he has the Minesweeper and High sea fleet badges.

    Regards Henrik

His rank on the citation falls within the grade of Unteroffiziere ohne Portepee (as opposed to Unteroffiziere mit Portepee) which is a Junior NCO position.

The pencil in the top right are his service details - the 1092/37 is his entry number into the KM in the year of 1937. The rest actually shows his unit and is why he has the Minesweeper Badge. He was serving on Räumboot-41 in 4. Räumbootsflottille...

                Thanks :-)

He must have gotten the Minesweeper badge later, as the spanish cross is datet 6. june 1939.

Did the Kriegsmarine use other than the "Panzerschiff" Deutschland in the civil war, that fits the High sea fleet badge?

                Regards Henrik

The Kriegsmarine used a number of large units during the Spanish Civil War. One was indeed Deutschland but her two sisters Admiral Graf Spee and Admiral Scheer also saw service there as did Köln, Königsberg, Leipzig & Nürnberg.

                    Thanks.

Seller just informed me that he served at Admiral Scheer.
