Urkunde signed by wilhelm richter 716 id ?

    HELLO

Here were two urkundes of 716 ID of which the EKII is signed by general Wilhelm Richter commanding the 716 ID
and the kvkI by oberst and after rk Generalleutnant Erpo Freiherr von Bodenhausen

the urkunde is dated of 30 October 1944 ;but the general Richter does not command any more this division
I do not find comparison or other documents signed by Richter
you can confirm me that it is its signature and why he has signed this document while he was not any more commander of the division

    thank you

It appears he bounced in and out of the command position; on the Axis History forum, it shows him as Stellvertretender Commander of an Inf Rgt about this time. It could be he was back for awhile. (http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtop...chter#p1962115) I don't have a comparison sig, but that sure looks like "Richter".

    best
    Hank

Yup, I agree with Hank. He likely bounced around as he may not have had an official command after September 1st. Bauer is shown as commander but, according to ABR, was on to command 189. ID by the end of September. So, Richter could have stood in in October or the published info on the actual commander of the division at the time is not complete. There is essentially a gap between Bauer and Ewert (commander in late December).

      Nice Western Front citation.

        Very nice documents.

I found this example of Wilhelm Richter's signature on the net. It was signed in 1939 while he was an Oberst and Regimental Commander of Artillerie Regiment 30. Looks like a match!

        Best regards,
        Tom
