    German Eagle Order Document

Looking for some feedback on this document, not my area of expertise. Didn't realize that I cut off the bottom of the document but it does come with a cream folder. I can take more photos if need be.

Was told it was a Dutch recipient but not sure of its authenticity.

Any feedback would be a great help.

    Thanks,
    Tony

I found two captains with the same name, may be related with your guy.

Tony, I believe that seal checks out nicely. The early documents were signed by "Der Deutsche Reichkanzler" and at some point changed to "Der Führer". I've seen the latter from late spring 1944, but never this early. As a sidenote, after 27.Dec 1943 the "Stufe" was changed to "Klasse" per regulation, but not de facto.

                      cheers

                        Hi Tony,

Cornelis Ter Poorten was a former Dutch Navy captain and later became a fanatical NSB (Dutch National Socialist Movement) member. He probably received this award for civil service as head of the NSB's Personal Affairs Department.

I do not see any reason why this should not be an authentic document.

                        Regards,
                        Bert

After I posted my response, I realized this guy was Dutch. If I'm not mistaken, I think Holland was one of the countries who's citizens were not eligible for the DAO, as it was occupied by the Germans. Apparently this was not strictly enforced.

                          cheers

Regarding the embossed seal.. the ring around the swas looks quite uneven..is this normal for such Award Doc? Just a objective opinion..no expert on docs.

Andreas, no stupid questions, only stupid people I don't think the ring presents any problems, here are from similar seals, KVK2 and LW Promotion document.

                              cheers
