this is my other great uncle , im am trying to do research on him and his brother, from some letter i had help with translating i know he was somewhere in russia, but thats it. here are some cool pictures of him. his GD shoulder boards are pretty wierd in the studio portrait...

they are both from Karlsruhe on the back of one pics it says Willi was born AUG. 1st 1917 in Karlsruhe and Julius was born May 31st 1920 also in Karlsruhe

i have Julius's wehrpass, and it says he got to Oberjager...

is there any way to fond a picture of his grave site, ive been searching but can only come up with websites of the cemetary but no grave pictures

You should contact the Volksbund and order a pic of the grave.

Your Great Uncle was a member of a Großdeutschland's Pionier unit. His insignia was/is quite rare...I have only ever seen a single surviving example in 40 years of looking.

His embroidered "GD" was black outlined in white.

id like to at least find a decent Steurermann patch, as close as possible to the one on his arm...maybe also the rank cheverons with pip. anything to get me closer to replicating some pictures i have of my 2 great uncles..thanks fellas.

so i found out that Wilhelm was a half brother to Julius.. their mothers maiden name is LULEI is there any way to use this last name to search for more records of Wilhelm??
