    Original Eduard Dietl autograph?

    Hello gentlemen,

I am about to buy this autograph from Eduard Dietl and I wanna be sure that it's 100% ok? I've compared it to many known originals but I've noticed this one starts with a little loop which I haven't seen on others. Perhaps it's nothing serious and just another way of doing his autograph (maybe done quickly?).

    Thanks in advance!!

Can you post a non yellowed brighter image?

I asked the seller for a better, non-yellowed picture. Will get it later today.

Thanks Blackadder! No opinions on this autograph from this well known Generaloberst?

Thank you for your opinions gentlemen!

Is this one so difficult to determine the originality? So many views and no certainty on the autograph? It is a hard one for me because I have not seen that tiny loop at the start before but perhaps it's just a minor abnormality which people have when signing something (in a hurry f.e.)

Funnily enough, I think it is a difficult one. I am still comparing this to other examples.

Thanks Jeremy. I compared to over 40 others and this is what puzzles me, the loop at the start:

I've just trawled through dozens of examples of his sig, both on hand signed award docs and from the archives of 20 Geb. Armee and i haven't seen that 'flick' at all so far.

Same here. Think I've seen about 40+ original ones. Apart from that loop at the beginning the rest looks good to me. Therefor I thought perhaps this one was done in a hurry or something?

I don't think that aspect is a problem. Here is another example on a postcard with that flick at top of start and one private photo with a slight flick the other way at the start (in close up it can be seen). My own reservation is the signature overall, and I am still looking at this compared to others including the two I have faith in shown here.

                        Hmm

Here is another I have faith in with a letter. Also attached is another on the same postcard I have reservations about. Compare both to the one under discussion and the two in my previous post re the flick. Maybe you see what I mean re the similarity of the one under discussion and the one on the knackered postcard. This is where my uneasiness comes from.

Not saying the one under discussion is necessarily a fake and I have only a few sigs on docs for comparison (not anywhere near 40+). But based on what I have to hand, it does make me have reservations re the postcard in question and the similar sig in this post on the knackered postcard in contrast to the other three (here and in previous post). So nothing definitive at this stage but just a few reservations to clear away...

Maybe posting a few docs to remove any doubts re the style of the sig being discussed originally (and his brother on the knackered postcard) might help, Marcel?

Thanks a lot for your time Jeremy! I didn't come across those which you've showed so thanks for that...and I agree the one under discussion is very similar to the last one you posted on the knackered postcard. The question than comes, is that a good or bad one? I do see some minor differences with the ones deemed original and the one I'm interested in. The one I'm interested one does also show quite good resemblance with this one, for sale at a well known dealer's website.

I did have the card in hand and it does look and feel old and it's a genuine old autograph. The question remains, is it a genuine ORIGINAL autograph? Didn't expect to run into so many questionmarks since I started with this card and it seems to get more and more complicated hahaha

I would definitely not buy that scrappy signature, Marcel, on the postcard in your last post anyway. Much better examples to be had...
